Harrington earns second Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week honorKANSAS CITY, Mo. – Southern Vermont College senior forward Nick Harrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents men’s basketball Player of the Week. The Mountaineers went 1-1 on the week while competing at the Williams College Invitational. In their opening game against Nichols, Harrington poured in a near triple-double performance by recording 14 points, 14 rebounds and eight steals. He also added four assists and two blocks compared with zero turnovers. In the consolation game, Harrington put together a 30-30 game, as he scored 37 points and grabbed 33 rebounds in an 88-77 win over Mitchell. His 33 rebounds are a school record and the most by any collegiate player to date this season. Additionally, his single-game total is the sixth most in Div. III history since the division began in 1973. On the week, Harrington averaged 25.5 points and 23.5 rebounds per game.

Mullen named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the WeekKANSAS CITY, Mo. – Southern Vermont College sophomore forward Markeisha Mullen (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week. In two games on the week, Mullen averaged 16.5 points and 18 rebounds per contest. Against Skidmore College, she tallied 19 points and 15 boards to go with four steals and a pair of assists. Two days later, she recorded another double-double when she produced 14 points and 21 rebounds in a loss to Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Mullen’s 21 rebounds in a single game puts her in a tie for fifth in Div. III this season.
