KANSAS CITY, MO.--- Sarah Morrill, an outside hitter for Colorado College, and Oluwafemi Badejo, a midfielder from Lincoln University (Pennsylvania), were named today as the recipients of the Association of Division III Independents Student-Athlete of the Month awards for September.

Morrill, a senior international political economy major, led Colorado College in kills (240) and kills per game (4.44) during September. She currently ranks 21st in Division III in kills per game. She collected 11 double-doubles, and set a school record for kills in a single match with 39 against George Fox University. Morrill was voted by the opposing coaches to the all-tournament team at both tournaments and was the MVP at both events. The Davis, California, native led the team to a 13-2 record in September.

Badejo, a senior accounting major from Lagos, Nigeria, helped Lincoln University to a 5-2 record in September by scoring a team-leading 10 goals and dishing out four assists.  He scored at least one goal in six of seven games during the month.  He had one hat trick in a 3-2 win over Juniata, a game in which Lincoln trailed 2-1 at intermission.  Badejo had three multiple-goal scoring games and two game-winning goals.  Badejo, who has a 3.54 grade-point average, was named ECAC player of the week once and twice was named the Association of Division III Independents player of the week.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 18 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2005-06.  The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.  For the second year, the Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports.  In addition, it also will announce all-Independent teams at the conclusion of nine sports this year.

All student-athletes from the Association’s 18 members were eligible for the award.  Each school was allowed to nominate its top performing male and female student-athletes from September.  The award recipients were selected after a vote of the Association’s Student-Athlete Recognition Committee.
