Dashiell, Eagle Receive April Honors
From the Association of Division III Independents

KANSAS CITY, MO.--- Lily Dashiell, a member of the Colorado College tennis team, and Craig Eagle, a pitcher for California State University, East Bay, were named today as the recipients of the Association of Division III Independents Student-Athlete of the Month awards for April.

Dashiell, a senior english/psychology major from Berkeley, CA, won all seven singles matches and five of seven doubles matches during the month of April. She finished her career with a school-record 10-match winning streak in singles competition in dual matches. Dashiell won a career-best 16 singles matches in 2006, posting a 16-3 record, and was one of 32 individuals chosen to play in the Division III Women's Tennis Championships. Her 12-7 record at No. 1 doubles was second on the team. Dashiell led Colorado College to a 13-6 team record, including an 8-2 record against Division II opponents. She played at No. 1 singles and doubles in every match during her four-year career.

Eagle, a junior geography major from San Diego, posted a 3-1 record with a 3.04 earned-run average during the month. In 23.1 innings pitched, Eagle recorded 21 strikeouts and five walks. In an 8-1 victory over Willamette University, Eagle allowed only one run and struck out six in seven innings of work.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 19 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2005-06. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. For the second year, the Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it also will announce all-Independent teams at the conclusion of nine sports this year.

All student-athletes from the Association’s 19 members were eligible for the award. Each school was allowed to nominate its top performing male and female student-athletes from April. The award recipients were selected after a vote of the Association’s Student-Athlete Recognition Committee.
