Mendez receives Association of Division III Independents baseball Player of the Week award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) senior outfielder Joe Mendez (Staten Island, N.Y.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents baseball Player of the Week. Mendez had another strong week for St. Joseph's, hitting .375 (6-for-16) with a team-high two homers and seven RBI as the Bears went 3-1 on the week. The senior recorded a hit and an RBI in all four games for St. Joseph's and scored five runs on the week. Mendez finished the week with four doubles, a .444 on base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage. The one-time Player of the Week had his best day of the week against John Jay College on Sunday, going 2-for-6 with two long balls, four RBI and four runs scored, eclipsing the 100-run mark as the Bears swept the Bloodhounds.
