OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) sophomore guard/forward Michael Megafu (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents men's basketball Player of the Week. Megafu continued his impressive play on the year, recording his fifth double-double of the season as the Bears defeated archrivals St. Joseph's (L.I.), 80-77, in a thrilling back-and-forth contest on Saturday. The sophomore poured in a team-high 27 points on a blistering 9-of-11 (81.8 percent) shooting from the floor while securing 10 boards. The guard/forward showed off all facets of his game going a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond arc, nailing each one at critical points in the game for St. Joseph's. Megafu also went 6-of-8 (75 percent) from the charity stripe and had two rejections on the night as the Bears improved to 5-5 with the win. The forward now leads the team averaging 14.1 points per game and 9.2 caroms per game while shooting an efficient 53.7 percent from the floor on the year.
