Presque Isle, Maine -- Visiting Eastern Maine Community College took a hard fought 84-79 victory from Maine-Presque Isle Saturday afternoon.
The seesaw affair had nine ties and 22 lead changes during the exciting 40 minutes of physical play.
The Owls shot a blistering 56.9% from the field including 9-of-17 from beyond the arc, but could not overcome late empty possessions and 21 turnovers, including 12 in the second half to stop the Eagle attack.
Eastern Maine (11-6) was led by Bryan Candelario with 28 points and 5 boards. Cote Card added 14 points and 6 rebounds to the Eagle effort.
Chase Vicaire continued his outstanding play of late, scoring 28 points, including 4-of-7 from downtown. Freshman Thiago Conceicao added 16 points and 6 rebounds and Michael Warner tallied 14 for the Owls.
Maine Presque Isle (7-8) will next play Bates College on Tuesday, January 28. EMCC will travel to Central Maine Community College to play on Wednesday, January 29.
