Maranatha Men’s Basketball Garners Region Recognition

WATERTOWN, WI – The Maranatha Baptist University men's basketball team capped off a successful 2013-14 season, by receiving NCCAA DII Midwest Region honors for several different players, as well as head coach Keith Salscheider.

Salscheider, in his second season, was named the co-coach of the Midwest Region, along with Grace Bible coach, Gary Bailey. Salscheider successfully led his team to an 11-14 record, the most wins by the team since the 2003-04 season, and the #2 seed in the Regional Tournament.

Player recognition went to freshman guard Brady Moses (Lodi, WI), as well as junior center Brett Cashner (Urbana, IL).

Moses earned 1st Team All-Region honors, and was named the Region Freshman of the Year, after averaging 19.1 points per game, 3rd in the Region, and 13th in Division II. His single-game high came against North Central University, on November 16, when the freshman dropped 34 points. Moses has shot 45% from both field goal, and three-point range, as well as 83% from the free-throw line.

Cashner was named to the 2nd Team All-Region after averaging 10.9 points, and his 6.7 rebounds per game ranked 5th in the Region. The junior center also ranked 2nd in field goal percentage (54.4%). His single game high came was 30 points, on December 7, against Great Lakes.

The team opens up Midwest Region play on Thursday, at 6:00 p.m. EST, against Moody Bible Institute.
