OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The College of New Rochelle freshman center Matthew Dean (Marlboro, N.J.) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents men's basketball Player of the Week. Dean averaged 23.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game as the Blue Angels went 2-0 on the week. The freshman began the week with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and added six rebounds as New Rochelle earned an 84-77 victory over Sarah Lawrence on December 10th. The center concluded the week with 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting in just 25 minutes to help lead the Blue Angels to a victory over Culinary on Sunday. The freshman shot 58.6 percent from the floor and 71.4 percent from downtown on the week.
