OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – UC Santa Cruz junior forward Kyle Creighton (Rocklin, Calif.) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents men's basketball Player of the Week. Creighton averaged 16.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game as the Banana Slugs went 3-2. The junior had a career-high 21 points in an overtime loss to Whittier, and followed it up with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting in an 80-70 victory over Wheaton in the D3hoops.com Classic. The forward nailed a three-pointer to beat the shot clock that gave UC Santa Cruz a nine-point lead with under two minutes to go in the eventual 67-60 comeback victory over Oberlin. For the year, Creighton leads the team with 13.3 points per game and is second with 6.2 rebounds per game.
