OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – SUNY Canton senior forward Romario Fletcher (Queens, N.Y.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents men's basketball Student-Athlete of the Month for January. Fletcher averaged 21.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game as the Roos ended the month with a 7-2 record. The senior shot 53.5 percent from the floor and finished with at least 15 points and six rebounds in every game on the month. The forward scored a career-high-tying 31 points and added 15 rebounds, while playing all 40 minutes in a 79-71 win at SUNY Delhi. Fletcher finished with 21 points and a career-high 24 rebounds, setting the Roos rebounding record in a 101-67 win against College of St. Joseph. The senior also produced outings that included 26 points against Villa Maria, 24 points versus Alfred State and 20 points against Morrisville State. Fletcher earns Student-Athlete of the Month honors for the second straight month and is second in the Association with 20.5 points per game.
