Freeman Named Association of Division III Independents Male Student-Athlete of the Month for September

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named Finlandia University men's soccer forward Alex Freeman its Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of September.

Freeman, a sophomore from Inverness, Illinois, scored 12 goals and had one assist in just six games as the Lions started the season 5-1. The forward set a new school record for most goals in a game with five in Finlandia's win over Lincoln Christian on September 28th and is ranked in the top five in the nation in total goals scored. The one-time AD3I men's soccer Player of the Week set a new school record for goals in a season, ending the month with four games of two more or goals. Freeman currently leads the Association in goals and points, leading the Lions to a new school record for wins in a season. The sophomore captain also leads his teammates in the community, volunteering multiple times a week with the recreational youth soccer program.
