Simon anointed Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) freshman shortstop Samantha Simon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents softball Player of the Week. Simon had the best week of her Lady Bears career, batting a sizzling .647 (11-for-17) on the week with nine runs scored and eight RBI along with her first career homer. The freshman recorded a base knock in all but one game this week as St. Joseph's went 6-2. The shortstop started the week off with a 3-for-5 day in the Lady Bears sweep of fellow AD3I member New Rochelle on Monday, scoring three runs and knocking in a pair of runs with her first career homer. Simon capped off the week with a perfect 4-for-4 outing against Sarah Lawrence, scoring four runs while driving in three and recording two doubles. The freshman concluded the week with four stolen bases and put together an impressive .684 on base percentage and 1.000 slugging percentage.
