Packard Named Association of Division III Independents Female Student-Athlete of the Month for March

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named University of Maine-Presque Isle softball pitcher/infielder Sara Packard, its Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of March.

Packard is a sophomore from St. Albans, Maine. The pitcher/infielder put together a strong month both in the circle and at the plate. The two-time Player of the Week during the month batted .385 with four home runs and 13 RBI to help lead the Owls to a 10-6 record in March. Packard also went 10-6 in the circle with a 2.82 ERA, 84 strikeouts and 11 complete games in 84 1/3 innings pitched. The sophomore had her best game of the month at the plate at Wheelock on March 19th, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored in a 14-4 game one victory. In the circle, Packard's best performance came on March 13th against Daniel Webster. The sophomore tossed ten innings with no earned runs allowed and 15 strikeouts to pick up the win in both games of the doubleheader.
