McNamee named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) senior guard Kelly McNamee (Glendale, N.Y.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents women's basketball Player of the Week. McNamee was the leader of a Lady Bears team that went 3-0 during the week to move over .500 for the first time this season. The senior opened up her week with a 15-point effort at Medgar Evers finishing 7-of-9 from the field with two boards and three steals. The guard stepped up her play at the Cedar Crest College Tournament as she was named Tournament MVP after St. Joseph's defeated both Lehman and NYU-Poly. Against Lehman, McNamee finished with a career-high-tying 21 points connecting on five of her eight shots from the field while going a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe. The senior helped the Lady Bears clinch the tournament title with 11 points and four rebounds along with two steals in the championship game. McNamee finished the week averaging 15.7 points per game, 2.7 rebounds per game and 1.7 steals per game. The senior shot an impressive 57.1 percent from the field (16-of-28) including 40 percent (4-of-10) from beyond the arc and was a perfect 11-of-11 from the line.
