Brandon named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The College of New Rochelle sophomore center Jasmine Brandon (Jersey City, N.J.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents women's basketball Player of the Week. The sophomore takes home the Player of the Week honor for the second straight week after continuing her outstanding play as she extended her streak of consecutive games with 20 or more points to six and her double-double streak to four. In the Blue Angels' road win over Bard College, which upped The College of New Rochelle's record to 7-1, matching the best start in school history, the sophomore center tallied 23 points and 10 rebounds in a 69-50 win. Brandon followed that effort up with 29 points and 19 rebounds at Mount Saint Vincent before concluding the week with a 26-point, 14-rebound and 5-steal effort against perennial HVIAC contender Albany Pharmacy on Sunday. For the week, the sophomore poured in 26.0 points per game on 54.5 percent (36-of-66) shooting from the field and secured 14.3 boards per contest.
