Ellis Named Association of Division III Independents Student-Athlete of the Month for November

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named The College of New Rochelle women's basketball forward Jah-Leah Ellis, its Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of November.

Ellis is a junior from Harlem, New York. The forward posted a strong first month in wearing the blue and white for The College of New Rochelle, averaging a team-leading 23.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game to help the Blue Angels to a 5-1 start to their season. Ellis also averaged 5.0 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting an impressive 52.4 percent from the field. The junior recorded four double-doubles in the six games and led the team in scoring four times, rebounding five times, assists twice, steals twice and blocks three times in display of her versatility. The AD3I Player of the Week on November 19th was named Tournament MVP at the Bryn Mawr Women's College Basketball Tip-Off Tournament after a 20-point, 8-rebound, 7-assist performance in the win over Notre Dame of Maryland and a 33-point, 19-rebound effort in the championship game win over Cedar Crest. Ellis accumulated five games with 20 or more points, including two with 30 or more and reached double-figures in rebounds four times. In the Blue Angels' win over the College at Old Westbury, the first for The College of New Rochelle over the Panthers since the 1999-2000 season, the junior poured in 31 points and added 15 rebounds, eight assists and three steals while committing no turnovers.
