CIRCLEVILLE, OH – The Maranatha women's basketball team concluded the Ohio Christian University Tournament with a tough, 72-43 loss to University of Cincinnati-Clermont on Saturday afternoon.
In the first half, Clermont blitzed Maranatha with a 35-12 lead at the break, while holding Maranatha to 22% field goal shooting. But in the second half, Maranatha turned it around, shooting 39% from the field while putting up 31 points compared to Clermont's 37.
Clermont finished with three players with double-digit scoring, as guard Ashley Keith scored 16 points while Stacie Lee had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Clermont also finished the game with a 38-27 advantage in rebounds.
Maranatha's leading scored, sophomore forward Stacy Reinke (Clintonville, WI), finished the tournament with double-digit scoring in each game, posting 12 points and six rebounds, while freshman guard Courtney Dunn (Oshkosh, WI) had 10 points and five assists. Dunn also had four of the team's six steals during the game.
Maranatha gained experience against the NCCAA's top-seeds at the OCU Tournament, and look forward to a win against Silver Lake on Thursday, January 16, at 5:00 p.m. at home.
