NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Berkeley College used a 24-0 run over a 10 minute stretch in the first half to build a big lead and withstood a furious rally from The College of New Rochelle to down the Blue Angels, 62-53, in a HVIAC matchup at The Wellness Center.

Jah-Lead Ellis led all scorers with 20 points, adding 13 rebounds to pace the CNR effort.  Jasmine Brandon tallied 13 points while Alyssa Pechin chipped in with 12 points, four assists, and three steals.

Janay Thomas led the Knights with 19 points.

Neither team took command in the early going,  until, with CNR holding a 9-8 lead with 14:49 remaining in the opening stanza, Berkeley put together that dominant run, keeping the Blue Angels without a point until a Holly Cammarota free throw with 5:10 left before halftime made the score 32-10.  Cammarota's free throw sparked a 9-2 run to end the half, providing the Knights with a 34-18 lead at the break.

The deficit stood at 16 points, 46-30, with 12:04 left before the Blue Angels embarked on a 16-5 run to pull within five, 51-46, with 4:37 remaining, but could draw no closer.
