OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named Maranatha Baptist University women's basketball center Laci Peterson, its Student-Athletes of the Month for the month of February.
Peterson is a senior from Chillicothe, Illinois. The center dominated throughout the month of February, helping lead Maranatha to a 4-2 record with averages of 19.5 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game. Peterson also contributed 2.7 assists and 4.8 blocks per game, while shooting an efficient 51.9 percent from the floor and 83.9 percent from the line. The senior nearly recorded a triple-double against Grace Bible on February 15th, finishing with 27 points, 21 rebounds and eight blocks in a narrow 83-76 loss. Peterson also had back-to-back games with 20-plus points against Moody Bible and Kuyper, finishing with 21 and 20, respectively. The leading shot-blocker in the Association scored in double figures in all six games for the Crusaders, concluded the month with two double-doubles and had five or more blocks in three of the six games Maranatha played.
