Ellis Named Association of Division III Independents Female Student-Athlete of the Month for November

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents named The College of New Rochelle women's basketball forward Jah-Leah Ellis, its Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of November.

Ellis is a senior from Harlem, New York. Ellis has gotten off to a strong start to begin her 2014-15 campaign, averaging 21.8 points, 17.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game in leading The College of New Rochelle to a 5-1 start. The senior has led the team in rebounds in every game and has produced five double-doubles. The one-time AD3I Player of the Week and last year's Player of the Year fell one assist short of the program's first triple-double in the Blue Angels' Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament championship game win over Yeshiva University, recording game-highs with 28 points, 27 rebounds and nine assists, adding four steals and three blocks. In the opening round win over College at Old Westbury, the senior was also on the precipice of a triple-double, tallying game-highs with 25 points, 27 rebounds, eight assists and three steals. The 27 rebound performances mark career highs for the forward. Ellis earned Tournament MVP honors at the Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament as well as the season opening Women's College Tip-Off Tournament, averaging 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in wins over Cedar Crest College and Notre Dame of Maryland University.
