Retas named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) senior forward Samantha Retas (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been selected the Association of Division III Independents women's basketball Player of the Week. The senior was two blocks shy of a triple-double, tallying 14 points, a game-high 17 rebounds and a Lady Bear single-game record eight blocks in a win over sibling school St. Joseph's (Long Island) on December 18th. The eight blocks broke a previous St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) record of six, which was previously held by her and teammate Taylor Raccuglia. She leads the Lady Bears with an average of 13.9 points per game and is second in AD3I in rebounds per game with 14.0 per contest. Retas is also second in the Association with 3.0 blocked shots per game.
