Bialecki named Association of Division III Independents women’s basketball Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Alfred State College sophomore center Catherine Bialecki (Almond, N.Y.) has been selected the Association of Division III Independents women's basketball Player of the Week. Bialecki averaged 22.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game in three games for the Pioneers. The sophomore extended her streak of double-digit scoring to 16 straight games. The center scored 20 points with 17 rebounds and four blocks as Alfred State earned a victory over fellow AD3I member SUNY Canton on Saturday. Bialecki capped the week off with a career high 35 points on 17-of-30 shooting at SUNY Delhi on Sunday. The sophomore also added 11 rebounds and seven blocks in the contest and ended the week shooting 45.8 percent from the field. Bialecki is now a three-time Player of the Week and is second in the Association in scoring.
