Maranatha Recipients of Prestigious NCCAA Presidential Award

WATERTOWN, WI – The Maranatha Baptist University Sabercats have been awarded the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence, given by the NCCAA to one Division I, and one Division II member for their placement in the National Championships.  

Twelve points are given to first place winners, and the lowest point total, eighth place, receives eight points. The Sabercats beat out North Central University, and last year’s winners, Clearwater Christian College, for Division II honors.  

Seven sports were represented in Division II championship placement, and Maranatha registered 34.5 points, with finishes by women’s basketball (1st place), men’s cross country (3rd place), women’s cross (4th place) country, women’s soccer (6th place) and volleyball (5th place tie).

North Central accumulated 27 points, while Clearwater recorded 26 points for third place. Maranatha, and Azusa Pacific University, the Division I recipient, will be awarded at the NCCAA Annual Convention Awards Banquet on Friday, May 30.
