OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) named women's basketball center Jasmine Brandon its Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of February.
Brandon, a freshman from The College of New Rochelle, averaged a team-leading 19.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for the month of February. She tallied two double-doubles, including a 24-point, 21-rebound performance in a win over Yeshiva University. The rebounding total was the most for a Blue Angel since the 2007-08 season. Brandon reached double figures in scoring in six of the team's seven games, including a stretch of four straight games where she scored 20 or more points. The Jersey City, N.J., native ranked second on the team in steals for the month, averaging 3.6 per game, and she nabbed seven of them in the Yeshiva win. For the month, Brandon converted 54.5% from the field and 78.8% from the free throw line. Brandon was also named the AD3I Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of November.
